Stage II is a vital, living program that brings fresh, raw talent to the Town Players of New Canaan's stage. Various events throughout the year bring new actors, directors, playwrights and technicians an opportunity to perform and learn by doing "theatre in the raw". Stage II performances generally involve minimal sets and lighting and are generally more gutsy and raw than our regular season mainstage productions. Without the distractions of a full-scale production, those involved are able to focus more closely on the art of pure theatre. Stage II has become a favorite event of many local theatregoers, and with ticket prices of just $3 for Town Players members and $4 for non-members it's the best bargain around.

Stage II productions have included events such as:

• Gimme A Break, an opportunity for less experienced actors to perform in a variety of scenes, monologues and vignettes.
• A Night Of New Directors, providing new directors with a chance to try their hand with some of our experienced actors.
• Staged Readings, bringing lesser known or unusual plays to our audiences in a relaxed setting.
• New Plays, giving playwrights an opportunity to bring their creations to life.
